Head over to the Charlotte Sports Park during the spring while the Tampa Bay Rays use it for spring training. During the regular baseball season, the local team, the Charlotte Stone Crabs play here. Tickets are available for both teams.
In May, play a few rounds of golf in the Spring Golf Scramble for a shot of a grand prize of $10,000.
Keep away the summer boredom by enrolling the kids in the Charlotte Players summer workshop. Children ages 6-18 will get hands on experience in set design, costumes, music, backstage production and performing. There will be a performance at the end of the workshop. The general public is welcome to attend the finale performance.
September brings the return of the annual Comedy for a Cause at the Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center. It's sure to be a night full of laughs with proceeds going to support the Charlotte Players.
Later in the fall, enjoy a movie in the park at the end of October during the annual Moonlight Movie festival with a showing at the Charlotte Sports Park and another at the Bayshore Live Oak Park. Movies are seasonally themed and family oriented so bring a blanket and enjoy the show.
The Saturday night before Christmas Eve brings a spectacular sight. Port Charlotte puts a new spin on the ordinary Christmas parade. Lighted boats fill the harbor and travel through 6 miles of canals. It's the largest lighted boat parade on the Gulf Coast! If you can tear away from the stunning beaches, Port Charlotte has something to offer everyone.
