Things to Do in Port Charlotte

Port Charlotte, Florida, which is about halfway between Fort Myers and Sarasota, offers visitors a variety of fun things to do, whether you enjoy outdoor sports, cultural activities or nightlife. If you’re interested in watersports or just appreciate great views and sunsets, you’ll appreciate that this city is right by the Gulf of Mexico as well as Port Charlotte.
Outdoor Activities and Sports
- Golf -The area contains a wealth of country clubs and golf courses, many of them in scenic areas. Some of your choices include Deep Creek Golf Club, Riverwood Golf and Country Club and Kingsway Country Club.
- Beaches and Parks -Port Charlotte Beach Park is a nice little park and beach close to town where you can go swimming, fishing or boating. You can rent kayaks here as well. It also has a swimming pool. Another park where you can go hike, bike or have a family picnic is Bayshore Live Oak Park.
- Fishing and Boat Tours -Several companies in the area offer fishing charters, boat rentals and boat tours. Charlotte Harbor Flats Fishing and Goodtimes Boat Rental are just two of the local companies where you can rent or charter boats. If you’re interested in scuba diving, you can go on an excursion with Fantasea Scuba Dive Center. It’s Time Kayak and Canoe Rentals offers rentals, guided tours and classes.
- Charlotte Sports Park -This baseball stadium is the spring training ground for the Tampa Bay Rays and also hosts the Charlotte Stone Crabs, a minor league team. If you visit during baseball season, you may be able to watch spring training or catch a game.
NightlifePort Charlotte offers quite a diverse number of activities for entertainment and nightlife. You'll find restaurants offering many types of cuisine, though great seafood places are especially easy to find. For entertainment, there are several bars with live music and theaters such as Langdon Playhouse and The Cultural Center. Visani Restaurant & The Comedy Zone is a place where you can have dinner and enjoy some standup comedy.
